STB Lingual Braces
STb lingual braces are an innovative discrete braces system, which can be used to treat minor to moderate orthodontic problems. One of the main assets of this brace system is that the brackets are placed on the back of the teeth instead of the front, making them much more discrete than traditional fixed braces.
Some people are unwilling to start orthodontic treatment due to the indiscreet nature of some treatments. They may feel that visible braces are unattractive and would rather have misaligned teeth than to be seen wearing metal braces. STb Lingual braces work in a similar way to traditional fixed braces, but allow patients to wear them discreetly.
How do they work?
The braces are custom made to fit each individual tooth for increased comfort and for fast results. Each bracket is placed on the lingual (back) side of the teeth with a self-ligating wire system, which gently moves the teeth into place without any pain.
The brackets are considerably smaller than normal metal brackets and the wire is thinner.
What are the main benefits of STb Lingual braces?
- Due to the placement of the brackets on the back of the teeth they are very discreet
- They offer a faster result than many other braces, often taking as little as four months to achieve straight teeth
- They are a fantastic solution for patients who have only minor misalignments and want straighter teeth in a short length of time
- Unlike some other fixed braces due to their self-ligating system teeth are moved gently into place without causing pain or discomfort.
As with most orthodontic treatment they can take a short time to get used to and speech may be mildly affected initially. It only takes a short period of time for the mouth and tongue to adapt to the braces and go back to normal.
It is very important to maintain healthy oral hygiene whilst wearing the braces and we will give advice to each patient on the best methods of achieving this throughout the course of treatment.
