Incognito Braces

Incognito braces are a revolutionary lingual braces treatment that is worn on the back of the teeth rather than the front. This means that although fixed braces are worn, because of their placement on the lingual side of the teeth they are incredibly discreet and most people will not know you are wearing braces at all.

Although they are fixed braces, because they are worn on the back of the teeth each bracket is custom made to fit each individual tooth. They are also smaller than traditional brackets and much lighter.

How do the braces work?

Once the brackets and wiring has been placed on the back of the teeth, they gently move the teeth into the desired location over a period of time. The braces are made to fit and work with each patients treatment plan so that movement can be achieved effectively.

Why choose Incognito braces?

Incognito braces are a great alternative to traditional fixed braces because they offer a smaller, lighter and much more discreet option. Many people may not want to wear braces that are visible to others and feel that visible braces will affect their confidence and facial aesthetics. Incognito braces offer patients a much more discrete version of fixed braces and because they are smaller than normal braces, they offer a more comfortable fit within the mouth.

After an impression is taken of the teeth the brackets are then custom made to fit every single tooth, which means that treatment can be achieved comfortably and effectively.

Treatment time varies according to the individual but generally treatment is completed within one to two years, again this will be discussed further during the consultation stage of the treatment.

Do they cause any discomfort?

Like any orthodontic appliance, Incognito braces may at first cause minor discomfort as the tongue gets used to the braces on the back of the teeth, this may also affect speech initially but should subside quickly.

As with all fixed braces, looking after the oral hygiene of the teeth can be more difficult. It is easier for food particles to get stuck around the brackets and wiring, therefore it is important to maintain thorough oral hygiene and clean the teeth around four times each day.
